Curley's wife was a very interesting character in the story "Of Mice and Men". Her character in this story is like an outcast. She looking for someone to befriend her and listen to her. Curley's wife is miserable in love and in her life. Has no choice but to live on the barn because of her crushed dreams. If i can describe i will say shes miserable, misunderstood, and hurt.
Curley's wife is miserable why because of her crushed dreams. If it wasn't for her mother she will be out there in Hollywood making films like she always wanted. She wanted to live the the life of Hollywood but instead she got stuck on a barn with a man she doesn't like better yet love. Imaging living on a barn with a man you married just to get away from her mother so theres no love and he tries to keep you captive with no friends. That's not the life she wanted its the life she felt she had to take.
Misunderstood is the best definition to describe curley's wife. She has no type of friends male or female. So being the only female on the farm with nothing but hard working males looking for someone to talk to is hard. She always comes off as a tramp to the men on the men on the farm. But really they do not know her story and never took the time out to listen to her. When she confided in the one person who would listen to her he takes her young miserable, misunderstood life away.
Being hurt all her life she was just looking for a love, friendship, and a better life. No one not even her mother listened to her or understood her.And the she married a man to get away not for love. All she wanted was to be famous and do something that she loves. No wonder why she was so miserable. Her feeling was crushed in so many ways. So before describing her look outside the box.

What are three themes to describe this story?
It's many themes for "Of Mice and Men"but the three that stuck out most to me are Friendship, violence,and Opportunity. These three themes touched me they determine the people in the characters and what their life style is. Themes are what the characters about.
Everybody wants a friend someone who they can dream with, confide in, trust, have fun, and to just have someone who is there by their side to help them through thick and thin. George and Lennie had a friendship that was unusual but strong. George and Lennie had a friendship because she was lonely.And candy had a bond with his dog that was like a friendship. Some friendships can mean more to people rather you value yours, seeking one or have one with and animal.
Violence played and important role in this book. Lennie was always killing mice when petting them which shows that Lennie was a little rough.The dog was was important because the dog was all curely had. Curely had that dog since it was a pup. It was like losing a best friend.

A theme for "Of Mice and Men"i choose was friendship. Friendship is a bond that George and Lennie have but express in a different way. Although George yells and sometimes treat Lennie like a child he always apologizes to Lennie. They are all each other haves they know it and they and value it.Its them against everyone else. George could of left Lennie in weeds to be found in killed but he didn't, which show that George cares for Lennie. Although their friendship is unusual it's strong and that they care. Lennie and George are like brothers thats how strong their friednship is.
Was Curleys wife what the men made her seem to be or just miserable and misunderstood?
Curleys wife is not what the men made her seem to be. She was just a young lady was very lonely and stuck. Her dreams of becoming an actress were crushed by her mother not allowing her to go on.Not ever receiving the promised letters from the man who told her she could be in films her little old her was crushed. To her she had no choice but to go ahead and marry Curley to get away from her mother. But with Curley she was still miserable so she did little things to entertain herself. Although the things she did it may had seem a little trampy. She had no girlfriends to socialize with she was surrounded by nothing but men and a with a man she didn't love. She confided in Lennie and expressed her feelings to Lennie about how she felt about every thing because there was no one else to. Curleys wife was just misunderstood and was looking for friendship, love, and happines
Who is carrying who in the story, is it George carrying Lennie or is Lennie carrting George?
I see it both ways, basically they both need each other to get by and they both depend on one another. Often in the story it seems as though George is carrying Lennie because Lennie is not that bright. Without Lennie George wouldn't be able to get work, and without George Lennie wouldn't know what to do. There were so many opportunities were George could of left Lennie but didn't because he knows he needs Lennie an Lennie needs him. They are each others support system and they know that they aren't complete with out each other.

The Demerit/ Merit System Adult Point of View
I walk into school and I look at the clock it’s 8:21, I’m late. Sign my late slip and goes to get my bag check. I hear “let me see your collard, your good now hurry up to advisory”, Ms. Morson is checking for collards. I check to see if I have a collard, I’m good. She stops me “your late again that’s five demerits, let me see your collard, your good you can go” all right bye Ms. Morson. “Wait a minute is that a hole in your jeans, second violation ten demerits, that puts you on probation now you can’t go out for lunch”.
The Demerit Merit system was issued at constitution high school in September of 2008. The system monitors student’s behavior. Students can earn Merits by doing good random acts. Students can earn demerits by not following the rules. The rules include uniform, lateness, and behavior.
Why wait three years later to add in a conflicting system. “The first school year wasn’t bad without the system but the system is good and effective” says Ms. Klose the art teacher here at Constitution. And the second year was fine to without it. What did we do wrong that we needed an “objective system” says dean of students Ms. Morson. What is and “objective system” anyway?
The system came without warning the prior year with no other signs of a new system coming in effect. The Demerit/Merit system monitors students academically, behaviorally,and attendance wise. It was shocking to students to know that when they came back to Con High on September of 2008 they would have new rules to follow such as the Demerit Merit system." The system is effective but it is not perfect, more students are taking notice and are concerned about how many demerits and merits they have" says dean of students Ms. Morson.
3:24 I'm about to leave to go home and the teacher tells me to go see Ms. Morison. Nay I told you that if you come in late or do anything you were going to be on probation. Now, to get off probation you have to serve two 30 min. detentions at lunch. Now I don't want to see you come in late or out of uniform.

Summer hear I go
Head down as I watch my feet take turns entering the next season of my life, summer. I’m ready to take on my own responsible and learn to become independent, but I have to overcome one obstacle my childish behavior. Just the other day I was at the movies with my friends and they started to tease me and I began to get mad and didn’t want to watch the movie anymore, so to get them to stop I stared whining and acting real childish, so they can leave me alone and they did.
Describing me, I say you can’t I’m too hard to define. People may think I’m mature and serious while others may think I’m to silly and that I need to grow up. Well I say I’m in the end of spring beginning of summer, the month of May. May is the month that feels like summer but it’s not summer yet, which reminds me of me. I say I’m in the month of May because I am ready and prepared to take the next step. I’m there I just need a push.
My childish way sometimes can be good and bad. Sometimes I do learn from my childish behavior. And when I think back like wow what I did was really childish what is my mom going to think about it, I began to think about the consequences. Now I am realizing that I have to stop and take on my own actions. Like Lizabeth in the story “Marigolds” when she sneaks out the window and pulls Miss. Lotties marigolds out then looks Miss. Lotties in the face and realizes that it is time to grow up.
Responsible I always been, every since the first day my mom sent me to catch the bus to go pay the telephone since “I’m always talking on it’. Then when I returned safely she told me that I will be sending to pay the bills for now on. Just my mom having me do a big task, and thinking I was responsible enough mad me feel more responsible and proud of myself. After that task more responsibilities came after that, like watching my baby brother and making sure everything was tidied up when she came home.
Finally I am ready to be more responsible, make my own way and make my own mistakes. Realizing that my childish behavior needs to stop although it does get me my way. Decision making, job, friends and new found smarts. Can’t wait for summer hear I go, I’m in.

Service Learnig reflection 2/18/09
My service learning group is Franks for Frankie, and yesterdays meeting did not go as planned. Unfortunatly my service learning advisor had gotten sick and went home. The person she left in charge was not taking charge. She did not mention how they wanted to do a school wide carnival,Ms.Thompson had to come in and tell us. If she couldnt handle the task she should of told Miss.D and she could have left someone elese in charge. So Ian took over the leader role and thought up ideas of how we can raise money for the carnival. We assigned what we were gong to be able to bring like, napkins, sodas, chips etc. Hopefully the next meeting will be a success.

Essay poem
Why do we keep feelings bottled up, I mean are we afraid of the outcome, are we scared of our own feelings. Feelings what are they and why so many. But one in particular catches my eye and that’s sorrow, sorrow is a sad emotion. I recently read a poem “If there be sorrow” by Mari Evans, a poem that makes me wonder about my emotions especially sorrow, there are many definitions but it is still hard to define. This poem has feeling probably because this poem is about a feeling itself. Life flows through this poem, it had me thinking why do we feel sorrow and why do we have emotions anyway. Up’s and downs is a part of life and with
that sometimes comes sorrow.
First off the first line of this poem takes me away “If there be sorrow let it be”, this line is
telling one to express themselves. Sorrow, don’t bottle it up with other feelings competing to be expressed and let out. Let it be and let it go. Mari Evans I believe wrote this poem for people who struggle with their emotions and expressing them.
Mari Evans wrote this poem for life and the emotions that comes along with it. In this poem she list things as “undone, undreamed, unrealized, unattained”. What she list is a few of how one may feel sorrow out of life.
An emotion that this poem is based on is sorrow, sorrow can mean more that what one may think. People can fell sorrow from everyday tragedies like losing someone in a car accident to just not being able to follow their dreams. Dreams when crush people feel depressed and depression brings on sorrow.
Finally to me she defines sorrow and kind of creates a picture, but only gives you a few examples and the picture is not that clear. Sorrow is an emotion that is sometimes hard to show and hard to contain. When all that’s said and done it is what it is. This poem is short but it says a lot. NHD reflection
National History Day this year was very different from last years. This year was new for since i decided to do something new which was a website. A website was completely different from what i did last year which was an exhibit. I am glad they added websites in this year because i probably would of been boring especially since i worked by myself this year.
There were a lot of challenges i faced with nhd, At first i was going to do an exhibit on MLK jr.,then i switched to Coco Chanel and decided to do a paper then i thought that i would have more fun with a website since i was working by myself. Me working by myself was difficult because at times i would get board and tiered and wouldn't feel like doing it. But since i was working by myself every thing was put on me so i had to keep on working.
A website was something new for me it was creative and something new. I had fun creating a website and thought my site was very creative but simple although i did not make it to cities i still think it was one of the best ones. Hopefully next time i will make and probably go farther.
